About

I’m Peter J Hackett and for many years I taught Marine Rescue Group (MRG) volunteers and the general public in the correct use of the marine VHF radio when used to communicate between two vessels or to an MRG land base station.
During the marine VHF Radio Course, students are taught that if they are not using the radio competently, it might as well be used as an expensive “anchor”.
When I say “students”, that includes the skipper and crew members of all ages, gender and experience – even 747 Pilots!.
The main benefit of studying for the Long Range (LROCP) or Short Range Certificate of Competency (SROCP) certificate is in knowing the correct DISTRESS, URGENCY and SAFETY radio call procedures.
